Improving Dust Extraction for a Joinery in Christchurch

Project: Soft Starter Replacement with F510 VSD

A Christchurch joinery faced challenges after moving to a new factory. Their existing dust extraction unit was not performing adequately in the new environment. This impacted the health and safety of the staff due to insufficient dust extraction rates.

The primary challenge was the limitation of the existing dust extraction unit, which operated on a soft starter limiting the fan speed to 50Hz. This was insufficient for the new premises, necessitating a solution to enhance extraction rates.

Solution:

Installing a TECO F510 Variable Speed Drive (VSD)

The TECO F510 VSD allowed the customer to safely increase the fan speed to 60Hz, effectively meeting the required extraction rates.

Compact and Durable Design: The TECO F510 37kW features an IP55 design, enabling installation directly on the wall of their building without the need for additional costs or space for an electrical cabinet.

The installation of the TECO F510 VSD led to significantly improved dust extraction rates, enhancing the health and safety of the staff at the joinery. This solution provided a cost-effective and efficient way to address their challenges in the new premises.
